Bring in the Buddies

Bring in the Buddies

Rules

Buddies appear in the Tavern minion pool.

They are shop minions rather than a guaranteed copy of your own hero's Buddy. Evaluate each Buddy by its printed effect, Tavern Tier, and whether your hero and board can actually use it.

Game plan

Buy early Buddies for tempo or economy when their standalone effect is efficient, but do not hold a weak unit only because it belongs to a famous hero.

In the mid game, identify Buddies that create repeatable value, improve your Hero Power, or complete a tribal engine. Pairs are valuable because Buddy cards also have Golden versions.

In the late game, keep only effects that scale, multiply combat triggers, or provide unique utility. Replace low-impact Buddy bodies once their Battlecry or economy job is complete.

Suitable heroes

Reno Jackson: making a high-impact Buddy Golden can convert a rare shop hit into an immediate engine.

Trade Prince Gallywix: extra buying and selling economy helps search the enlarged pool and cycle situational Buddies efficiently.

The Curator: the starting All-type minion supports tribe-dependent Buddy effects and keeps more shop options relevant.

Tribes and compositions

Battlecry and cycling boards can use Buddies that generate cards, discount purchases, or create additional Battlecries before selling the body.

Deathrattle and summon boards value Buddies that add combat triggers or multiply an existing engine.

Menagerie and All-type boards are flexible because many Buddies carry a tribe or reward a specific minion type.

Cautions

Some Buddies reference a particular Hero Power, hero identity, or special button. Those cards may be weak or partially inactive for other heroes.

Adding Buddies enlarges the Tavern pool and can make ordinary core minions less consistent to find.

Do not assume every Buddy is universally powerful. Compare the effect with a normal minion of the same Tier and account for the board slot it occupies.
